The adoption fee for dogs is $125, while the fee for cats ranges from $30 to $75.

Rockwall Animal Adoption Center in Rockwall, TX

Legacy Humane Society was founded in 2008 as a volunteer-driven dog rescue organization. We accept dogs from euthanasia lists and owner surrenders, provide them with complete veterinary care, and work to find them suitable homes. All potential adopters undergo home and veterinary checks to ensure a good match. In 2012, the City of Rockwall contracted with us to manage their animal adoption services, while they continue to handle animal control. Our team screens applications submitted at the shelter, although due to staffing limitations, we are unable to conduct home checks. We currently employ 14 staff members, and our funding comes from both the city and donations. In January 2017, we renamed our facility the Rockwall Adoption Center to better differentiate the roles and services of our two associated organizations.
