About this shelter

Bowie Animal Shelter in Bowie, TX

Bowie Animal Shelter is located in Bowie, Texas, in Montague County, about 60 miles southeast of Fort Worth, and is one of three animal shelters/rescues serving the county. The shelter is owned by the City of Bowie and operated under the Bowie Police Department's Animal Control division, with support from the volunteer group Friends of the Bowie Animal Shelter. These volunteers hold fundraising events to offer free spay/neuter services and free rabies shots for pets adopted from the shelter, while also assisting with re-homing and educating the community on responsible pet ownership. Many adoptable pets are cared for in local foster homes rather than on-site, and the full list of available animals is maintained through Petfinder.
