The Tennessee Humane Animal League is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to finding homes for homeless or surrendered animals through The Pet Placement Center (PPC). The PPC operates solely on donations and fundraising efforts. As the oldest no-kill animal adoption center in Hamilton County, we provide a safe haven for animals until they are adopted into caring, permanent homes. Our mission is to alleviate animal suffering by promoting responsible animal care through education and leading by example. We aim to find suitable homes for lost or abandoned animals as well as pets whose owners can no longer care for them. Additionally, we advocate for the spaying and neutering of dogs and cats to help control the population of unwanted animals. We emphasize the importance of responsible pet guardianship, which includes providing proper nutrition, clean water, adequate shelter, necessary vaccinations, and regular exercise.

Adoption process

Prospective adopters are required to complete an application and questionnaire prior to being approved for adoption. Upon approval, there is a fee of $90, which covers the cost of spaying or neutering, vaccinations, deworming, flea treatment, heartworm treatment for dogs, and an FIV/leukemia test for cats or a heartworm test for dogs. Adopters must also sign a contract agreeing to adhere to our guidelines, which specify that dogs cannot be kept on a chain, cats must not be declawed, and all cats must live indoors. Should adopters be unable to keep the pet for any reason, they are required to return the pet to us.
