Basenji Rescue and Transport in Ooltewah, TN
Basenji Rescue and Transport (BRAT) has been rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming Basenjis since 1999, working out of Ooltewah, Tennessee in Hamilton County, about 15 miles west of Chattanooga. As an all-volunteer, IRS-recognized tax-exempt organization, BRAT takes in Basenjis from shelters, abusive situations, and relinquishing owners, providing routine and advanced veterinary care that includes spay/neuter, full vaccination, heartworm testing, and DNA testing for Fanconi syndrome. Adopters are carefully screened to ensure a good match between dog and owner so each Basenji finds a true forever home. Hamilton County is also home to 16 other animal shelters and rescues, making it a hub of animal welfare activity in the region.
