Adoption Process

Pets adopted by MAR come from the city pound in Mitchell, SD, at a cost exceeding $50 per animal. Each animal is placed in a foster home and receives necessary veterinary care. Applicants are required to submit an application, after which a MAR volunteer will check references, contact the applicant's veterinarian, and conduct a home visit when feasible. Once the adoption is finalized, MAR retains the right to reclaim any animal that is not being properly cared for.

Since our establishment in 2008, Mitchell Animal Rescue has saved countless pets from the city pound, many of whom would have otherwise faced euthanasia. We operate without a physical facility, and all our animals are cared for in foster homes.
