Pet Helpers is a no-kill animal shelter and adoption center located in Charleston, South Carolina, roughly 5 miles northeast of the city in Charleston County, where 10 other animal shelters and rescues also operate. Its mission is to end the euthanasia of adoptable cats and dogs by operating a no-kill shelter, promoting forever adoptions and humane education, and providing low-cost spay/neuter surgeries. For 48 years Pet Helpers has worked toward this goal, saving more than 57,000 animals from euthanasia through adoption and fostering, and it operates a spay/neuter clinic alongside community programs like a pet food bank and the Unchain Charleston initiative. The shelter cares for cats, dogs, and small animals, and is supported primarily through private donations from individuals, businesses, and foundations.
