About this shelter

Carolina Basset Hound Rescue in Charleston, SC

Carolina Basset Hound Rescue (CBHR) is a rescue organization based in Charleston, South Carolina, located in Charleston County, where 10 other animal shelters and rescues also operate; it sits about 2 miles southeast of Mount Pleasant, SC. CBHR is a volunteer-staffed, 501(c)3 non-profit whose mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome unwanted basset hounds throughout North Carolina and South Carolina. Every basset in their care is spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and treated for heartworm disease if needed, then placed in foster homes to heal emotionally, address medical and behavioral needs, and gain socialization before adoption. Potential adopters go through a screening process that includes a veterinary reference check and a home visit, all aimed at matching each dog with a loving, forever home.
