Equine Protection Network, Inc. is a horse rescue and advocacy organization based in Friedensburg, Pennsylvania, in Schuylkill County, roughly 25 miles southeast of Reading, PA. Founded in 1995 by Christine Berry in response to the transport of horses in double-deck trailers and cruelty at horse auctions, EPN works to combat horse slaughter and advocate for equine welfare through legislative action, law enforcement, and public education. Its efforts include helping secure passage of Pennsylvania's Horse Transport Law banning double-deck trailers, running the EPN Sanctuary Program, and launching the Save America's Horses National Billboard Campaign. Four other animal shelters or rescues are also located in Schuylkill County, PA.
