About this shelter
Animals in Distress in Coopersburg, PA
Animals in Distress is a nonprofit animal shelter and sanctuary located in Coopersburg, Pennsylvania, about 8 miles northwest of Allentown, in Lehigh County, where 9 other animal shelters and rescues also operate. The shelter keeps every animal it admits, providing medical care, behavioral rehabilitation, food, shelter, and love until a suitable new home can be found, and no animal is ever killed simply because it is unwanted, too old, or injured. It receives no tax or public funding, relying entirely on donations and volunteer-run fundraisers such as raffles, bake sales, and craft bazaars to cover its operating costs. All administrative and fundraising work is performed by unpaid volunteers, ensuring that donations go directly toward animal care.
