The Sanctuary for Senior Dogs is a nonprofit dog rescue in Cleveland, Ohio, operating since 2013 and dedicated to the rescue, adoption, and lifelong care of senior dogs abandoned in shelters and pounds. All of its dogs live in Sanctuary-approved foster homes rather than a physical shelter, and dogs too ill or emotionally fragile to be adopted are placed in Forever Foster hospice homes for the remainder of their lives; every dog is spayed or neutered prior to placement. The organization runs an Adoption & Education Center in the Old Brooklyn neighborhood of Cleveland, where the public can meet available dogs during open hours and monthly Adoption Sundays, though no dogs are actually housed at the center itself. Located in Cuyahoga County about 4 miles north of Cleveland, the Sanctuary is one of 41 other animal shelters and rescues based in the county.
