Milo Foundation is an animal shelter located in Willits, California, in Mendocino County, roughly 120 miles southeast of Sacramento, and is one of five such shelters and rescues serving that county. It is an established 501(c)(3), no-kill nonprofit that rescues dogs and cats from high-kill shelters throughout California and places them into loving, well-matched homes, while also educating the public on responsible pet guardianship, including spay/neuter. Animals go through vet care, spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, microchipping, and parasite treatment before adoption, and the organization adopts out approximately 1,800 dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens each year. Its Mendocino County Sanctuary sits on 283 acres and houses roughly 200-plus animals at a time, mostly dogs and cats needing rehabilitation or socialization, along with a variety of farm animals.
