The Ohio Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Ohio SPCA) is a humane society based in Grove City, Ohio, about 7 miles northeast of Columbus in Franklin County, where 27 other animal shelters or rescues also operate. Founded in 1983 and formerly known as the Ohio Humane Education Association, the organization is a 501(c)(3) that rescues, rehomes, and rehabilitates animals statewide, maintaining a Farm Sanctuary south of Grove City that provides permanent care for more than 50 rescued farm animals alongside a separate dog and cat adoption shelter in Lima housing up to 300 cats and 80 dogs at a time. Its work spans cruelty investigations, an equine rescue program, humane education, and county shelter reform, guided by the motto "Extend Your Circle of Compassion." The Ohio SPCA is not affiliated with the ASPCA or any other organization using the SPCA name, and relies on public donations to sustain its operations.
