Adoption Process

The adoption process includes several steps to ensure a good match between the adopter and the pet. It begins with a pre-adoption application followed by phone conversations. A home visit is then conducted, along with meet-and-greet sessions at the rescue facility. We require veterinary references and three non-family reference checks, as well as a search for any criminal history related to sex offenses or animal abuse. After these steps, final adoption approval is granted. The adopter must sign an adoption contract, which includes lifetime tracking and veterinary records for the pet. No fees are incurred until the final adoption fee is established. The adoption fee varies based on the dog, ranging from a cash or dog food donation of the adopter’s choice to a cash donation of $250 to $450.
