Athens County Humane Society in Athens, OH

We were established in 1910. Previously, we operated a shelter with a paid manager, but we have since transitioned to an all-volunteer organization without a physical location. Our board consists of approximately ten members who meet monthly. Our primary mission is to facilitate cat and dog adoptions and to promote spay/neuter services. We conduct two to three low-cost clinics each month and provide discounted rates to clients in need of financial assistance. Our organization serves a county characterized by low-income, rural residents, with a strong focus on addressing cat overpopulation through our spay/neuter and adoption initiatives. Additionally, we assist with trap-neuter-return (TNR) efforts and offer reduced spay/neuter rates for feral cats.
