The Animal Protection League of Mercer County is an animal shelter located in Celina, Ohio, in Mercer County, about 45 miles northwest of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Founded in August 2001 by a group of concerned animal lovers, it is a no-kill, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to saving pets in need throughout Mercer County. The League pulls dogs from kill shelters and accepts owner surrenders, ensuring every dog receives veterinary care and microchipping before adoption, and it also treats heartworm-positive dogs and provides care for stray or injured pets. As a foster-based rescue, all of its dogs live in foster homes until they are adopted into permanent families.
