Adoption Process

Potential adopters can select a cat or kitten and complete an application form. Following this, there will be a brief interview with one of our volunteers. Please note that adoptions do not take place on the same day. We will schedule a home visit, during which the foster parents and a volunteer will meet with you. Our adoption fees are structured as follows: For cats and kittens under 8 years old, the fee is $100. For cats over 8 years old, the fee is $75. If you adopt two cats together, you will pay the full amount of the higher fee and half of the lower fee. For instance, adopting a kitten and a cat (under 8 years) would total $150. We require that all cats be kept indoors only, and an adoption contract is mandatory.

Island Cat Resources and Adoption in Alameda, CA

Island Cat Resources & Adoption (ICRA) is a volunteer-driven, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in the Alameda-Oakland area. Our mission is to alleviate the suffering of mistreated, abandoned, and feral cats while educating and empowering the local community to support these efforts. Since our founding in 1994, ICRA has successfully placed over 2,500 cats into loving homes through our adoption program, spayed or neutered more than 11,300 cats, and assisted many hundreds more in transitioning from the streets to no-kill community shelters. As a small organization with limited resources, our achievements are the result of the dedicated efforts of our volunteers and supporters, who are deeply committed to improving the health and welfare of the significant number of abused and unwanted cats in our community.
