Chatham Animal Rescue & Education (CARE) is dedicated to promoting the health and safety of all dogs and cats in Chatham County, North Carolina. The organization provides loving and stable foster homes for homeless cats and dogs, preparing them to become excellent companions for their future families. CARE collaborates with the Chatham County Animal Shelter to save the lives of unwanted animals, manages feral cat colonies, and serves as an educational resource for the community. Through Lillie's Fund, CARE offers a targeted spay/neuter program that subsidizes sterilization surgeries for pets belonging to low-income families in Chatham County. Established in 1975, CARE is a nonprofit animal welfare organization that relies on the support of individual and corporate donors to fulfill its mission.
