The Animal Protection Society of Durham (APS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to assisting animals in the community since 1970. Since 1990, APS has operated the Durham County Animal Shelter. The organization depends on donations from generous individuals and corporations to provide food, shelter, and medical care for nearly 5,000 stray, surrendered, abandoned, abused, and neglected animals each year. Adoption process
The adoption fees are as follows: $95 for cats and between $125 and $175 for dogs. To adopt, you must meet the following requirements: - Provide a government-issued ID. - Be at least 18 years old. - Either own your home or reside in a pet-friendly environment. - Have no prior animal abuse charges. - Be sober at the time of adoption. - Not adopt the animal as a gift.
