About this shelter

Equine Rescue, Inc. in Walden, NY

Equine Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Walden, New York, in Orange County, about 45 miles south of Paterson, NJ, and one of 19 other animal shelters and rescues located in Orange County. Founded in 1996, it rescues and provides care, rehabilitation, and adoption services for abused, neglected, and abandoned horses, with a particular focus on critical care cases involving horses whose quality-of-life needs have gone medically untreated. It offers a Hudson Valley sanctuary for horses that cannot be placed elsewhere, does not euthanize for space, and promises every horse it accepts a home for life. Run by a small team of directors who take no salary, the organization relies entirely on individual donations and private grants to sustain its work.
