Adoption Process

State law mandates that all animals must be spayed or neutered. For animals that are of age, we ensure they are altered before being placed with a new adopter. If an animal is not old enough for the procedure, the adopter is required to sign a contract agreeing to have the animal altered once it reaches the appropriate age. If this condition is not met, the animal will be reclaimed by CCACA. Our adoption contract also specifies that if the adoption does not work out for any reason, the animal must be returned to the shelter. The standard adoption fee is $75, unless the fee has been sponsored by a member of the public. This fee covers the cost of spay/neuter, rabies vaccination, other vaccinations, and worming. All adopters must be at least 18 years old, and we will keep a copy of each adopter's driver's license on file.

At our shelter, we are committed to maintaining a low euthanasia rate. We diligently raise funds to cover surgeries and veterinary care for our animals. Our goal is to place our animals in the best possible homes, and we collaborate with various rescue organizations to achieve this. I began volunteering at the shelter five years ago, transitioned to part-time work four years ago, and became a full-time employee three years ago. My passion for working with animals drives my diverse responsibilities here, which include administering medications and vaccines, managing adoptions, coordinating rescues, transporting animals for spay and neuter procedures, and facilitating transport.
