The Humane Society of Southeast Missouri is a no-kill shelter located in Cape Girardeau, Cape Girardeau County, Missouri, about 90 miles north of St. Louis, and is one of three animal shelters or rescues serving the county. It cares for dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens, with every adopted animal leaving fully vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and microchipped. Its mission is to nurture the human-pet bond by providing shelter care and advocacy for homeless pets, along with spay/neuter resources and education for the community through its SNAP program. The organization operates a newly built Adoption & Humane Education Center in Cape Girardeau and also offers pet cremation services, community room rentals, and humane education programs such as summer camps.
