Founded in 1911, it is one of the oldest nonprofit agencies in Butte County, working to bring humanitarian care to dogs, cats, and other animals. It operates as a limited-admission shelter dedicated to keeping animals as comfortable as possible during their stay, and it also runs a veterinary center offering exams, surgery, vaccines, and spay/neuter services, along with volunteer, foster, and community pet-pantry programs.
