Stray Animal Adoption Program in Newport, KY

We are a volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to rescuing animals in need of permanent homes. Our animals are placed in foster homes where they receive love, food, medical care, and socialization until they are adopted into caring families. We emphasize the importance of spaying and neutering all pets. Before adoption, we ensure that all animals are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations, as well as on heartworm and flea prevention treatments appropriate for their age. Our animals are prepared to begin their new lives with their forever families.

Adoption process

The adoption process begins with the potential adopter completing an online application. Each application is carefully reviewed to ensure compliance with property and landlord regulations, adherence to breed-specific laws, and to confirm that the applicant is not on our do-not-adopt list. Once an adoption is finalized, a contract is signed, which guarantees that the pet will be treated as a family member and kept up to date on vaccinations. We adhere to a policy that states once a pet is adopted from SAAP, it is always a SAAP pet. This means that if the adopter is unable to care for the pet in the future, the pet should be returned to SAAP.
