Kentucky Equine Humane Center in Nicholasville, KY
The Kentucky Equine Humane Center is an equine rescue located in Nicholasville, Kentucky, in Jessamine County, about 8 miles northeast of Lexington, with three other animal shelters or rescues also based in the county. Operating on a tranquil 70+ acre farm, it serves as a safe haven for horses surrendered by owners or rescued from abuse and neglect, regardless of breed. Once healed and retrained, the horses are made available for adoption to become companions and partners, and the center also works to educate the public on responsible equine ownership to reduce the number of horses in crisis. It aims to serve as a model for similar organizations across the country working to save America's equines from inhumane treatment.
