Adoption Process

After submitting an application, potential adopters must allow 24 hours for home and reference checks to be completed. Adopters are required to sign a Pet Adoption Agreement, which outlines their responsibilities to provide the pet with proper and adequate food, water, housing, exercise, medical care, and humane treatment. The agreement also specifies that adopters must comply with local licensing and animal confinement laws, keep the pet solely as a companion animal, and refrain from selling, giving away, or using the animal for experimental purposes. Additionally, adopters must not allow the pet to engage in dog fighting or train it, or have it trained, to attack other persons or animals. All adopted pets of sufficient age must be spayed or neutered prior to leaving the shelter. The adoption fee is $49 for cats and $99 for dogs, which includes vaccinations as well as spaying or neutering.
