Critter Camp Exotic Pet Sanctuary in German Valley, IL
Critter Camp Exotic Pet Sanctuary is a 501(c)3 charitable organization in German Valley, Illinois, located in Stephenson County, about 20 miles east of Rockford, IL, where 2 other animal shelters or rescues also operate. Licensed by the USDA, Illinois Department of Agriculture, and IL-DNR, the sanctuary relies entirely on donations and educational, hands-on tours rather than government or public funding to support its work. Critter Camp is dedicated to providing lifelong, quality care to elderly, abused, ill, or "forgotten" exotic and unusual pets, believing that humans have an obligation to care for animals they've bred for enjoyment or profit for their entire lives rather than re-homing or euthanizing them for convenience.
