Save Our Strays, Inc. in Monroe, GA
Save Our Strays, Inc. is an animal shelter located in Monroe, Georgia, within Walton County, roughly 25 miles northeast of Athens, GA, and one of six such shelters and rescues serving that county. Incorporated on September 24, 2002, it is a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to companion animal rescue serving the metro-Atlanta area, working closely with local animal control to reduce euthanasia by placing dogs and cats up for adoption. Every rescued animal is tested, vaccinated, examined, and spayed or neutered before being placed in a home, reflecting the organization's strict mandatory sterilization policy aimed at reducing pet overpopulation. Save Our Strays also promotes adoption as an alternative to purchasing from puppy mills and partners with Monroe Animal Care Hospital for veterinary treatment, surgeries, and quarantine of its foster animals.
