About this shelter

Navajo Nation Animal Shelter in Fort Defiance, AZ

Navajo Nation Animal Shelter is located in Fort Defiance, Arizona, about 80 miles northeast of Farmington, NM, and is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. It operates as part of the Navajo Nation Animal Control Program, whose mission is to ensure the well-being of both people and animals on the Navajo Nation by enforcing animal control laws to protect health, safety, and property. The shelter partners with vaccination clinics, spay/neuter programs, and rescue operations to prevent the spread of disease and reduce the overpopulation of free-roaming dogs. Its goal is to create a better future for present and future generations in which animals are cherished and cared for.
