The Humane Society of Yates County-Shelter of Hope is a private, no-kill animal shelter located in Penn Yan, New York, in the Finger Lakes region, about 40 miles northwest of Rochester. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit, its mission is to provide the best care possible to companion animals until they are adopted into loving, forever homes, with a vision of making Yates County a community where animals rest in loving homes without need or want. The shelter reported a 98.9% live release rate in 2025 and is registered with New York State as a shelter/rescue. It is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with appointments preferred.
