Heart of the Catskills Humane Society is a cat rescue located in Delhi, New York, about 60 miles northeast of Albany, and is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 12:00 to 4:00 PM. Legally known as the Humane Society of Central Delaware County, Inc., the shelter relies heavily on volunteers who walk dogs, socialize cats, and help with facility maintenance, office tasks, and community outreach. HCHS also runs an Adopt a Cage or Kennel program, through which sponsors help fund food, vaccinations, and spay or neuter surgery for animals awaiting their forever homes, and it partners with a Petco location in Oneonta, NY to showcase adoptable cats. The shelter also offers a foster care program for kittens and their mothers for those able to provide a temporary home.
