Highland Humane Society is a private non-profit animal shelter in Hillsboro, Ohio, serving Highland County since 1969. It provides a peaceful temporary home for adoptable cats and dogs, placing them in suitable homes while promoting the humane treatment of animals and spay/neuter programs to reduce pet overpopulation. In 2024 alone the shelter rescued 311 dogs and 334 cats, and it also offers community programs such as vaccine and microchip clinics, low-cost spay/neuter services, affordable dog training, and a Pet Food Pantry for families in need. Located about 50 miles west of Covington, KY, the shelter is open Monday through Friday from 12:00–5:00 PM and Saturday from 11:00 AM–3:00 PM.
