About this shelter

Great Lakes Dog Rescue in Metamora, MI

Great Lakes Dog Rescue is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) dog rescue located in Metamora, Michigan, about 20 miles west of Flint. Its mission is to rescue well-tempered, adoptable dogs from animal control facilities and owner-surrenders, providing them shelter and medical care until they find adoptive homes, while also educating and assisting the community in responsible pet ownership. Adoption fees are tiered by age, ranging from puppies to seniors, and the rescue relies on fosters, volunteers, and donations to support its dogs. The shelter is open to visitors Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00 to 3:00 PM.

Adopting from Great Lakes Dog Rescue

Adoption process

Submit an application for the dog you're interested in (found on the dog's page), which doesn't obligate you to anything and only needs to be done once even if you like multiple dogs; include your vet's name and phone number for current/previous pets; after submission you'll get a confirmation email and an adoption counselor will follow up with you.
