For over 50 years, it has been dedicated to the rescue and refuge of abused, abandoned, injured, and retired exotic animals, providing a home to large and small exotic and domestic felids, bears, wolf hybrids, foxes, farm animals, and more. It is a private, non-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)3 charity, founded and led by President Jill E. Carnegie, who lives on-site with her husband, Jim Tomasi, caring for the animals directly. The sanctuary is 100% publicly funded and run largely by volunteers, relying on donations from members, friends, and a dedicated core of volunteers to sustain its work.
