About this shelter
Scooter’s Underdogs Rescue Inc. in Elk Park, NC
Scooter's Underdogs Rescue Inc. is a dog rescue based in Elk Park, North Carolina, about 90 miles southeast of Charlotte. Their motto is "Always root for the underdog," and they believe in being "kind to every kind, not just mankind." Following Hurricane Helene in September 2024, the organization rescued dozens of stranded and abandoned dogs and cats, distributed over 10,000 lbs of food, replaced more than 100 dog houses, and coordinated mobile vet clinics and heater giveaways for affected communities. They also sponsor spay/neuter surgeries for animals as funding allows, addressing both animal welfare and the needs of the surrounding human community.
