About this shelter

The Animal Care Shelter for Kent County in Chestertown, MD

The Animal Care Shelter for Kent County is located in Chestertown, Maryland, about 25 miles northeast of Middletown, Delaware, and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. As Kent County's only open-admission animal shelter, it cares for hundreds of cats, dogs, and small animals each year, providing food, medical care, and shelter until each pet finds a home. Beyond housing adoptable animals, the organization runs a food pantry, lost-and-found services, and rehoming support, and its Animal Services team works to reunite lost pets and investigate welfare concerns to keep animals safe and families together. Operating as The Humane Society of Kent County, Inc., it is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
