Pioneer Humane Society/PAWS is a private, non-profit 501(c)3 animal shelter serving Pendleton, Oregon, located about 150 miles northeast of Spokane, WA. Founded in 1975 by a group of compassionate citizens, it operates as a no-kill facility dedicated to helping homeless, lost, and at-risk animals in Umatilla County, guided by a volunteer Board of Directors, a small paid staff, and many volunteers. The shelter maintains a contract with the City of Pendleton to care for and find homes for impounded stray dogs, while also offering spay/neuter assistance, pet food aid for low-income owners, and education and outreach programs. Visitors can find the shelter open Tuesday through Saturday from 12:00 to 4:00 PM.
