About this shelter
BARC, Anderson County Humane Society in Palestine, TX
BARC, Anderson County Humane Society is a humane society located in Palestine, Texas, about 100 miles northwest of Dallas. The shelter rescues and cares for homeless cats and dogs in Anderson County and does not euthanize healthy animals to create space, even when the shelter reaches full capacity. It works to place animals through on-site adoptions, community adoption events, and rescue transports sent to partner groups up North, and it promotes spay and neuter as the long-term solution to shelter overcrowding. Visitors are welcome to stop by and meet available pets in person, with no appointment needed, seven days a week from 12:00 to 5:00 PM.
