About this shelter
Horseshoe Canyon Rescue Ranch - HCRR in Youngsville, NM
Horseshoe Canyon Rescue Ranch (HCRR) is an equine rescue located in Youngsville, New Mexico, about 50 miles southeast of Santa Fe. Founded by Mike and Tina Kleckner, it is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and one of the only rescue ranches in northern New Mexico, sitting on 180 acres and dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of neglected, abandoned, abused, or surrendered horses, donkeys, dogs, and cats. HCRR is a 100% anti-slaughter rescue that believes not every horse needs to be ridable, but every horse deserves to be loved and cared for, and animals with medical or abuse-related issues that aren't adopted are given a forever home on the ranch. The organization's story began in 2018 with the rescue of Arrow, an off-track thoroughbred saved from a kill lot.
