About this shelter
Truth or Consequences City Animal Shelter in Truth or Consequences, NM
The Truth or Consequences City Animal Shelter serves companion animals — dogs and cats — in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, roughly 60 miles southeast of Las Cruces. It is open Monday through Saturday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The shelter works closely with the Sierra County Animal Rescue Society (SCARS), a nonprofit group of concerned citizens looking out for the welfare of Sierra County's owned and stray dogs and cats, which sponsors spay/neuter surgeries and rabies vaccinations to ease the burden on the shelter and reduce the number of unwanted kittens and puppies in the area. Because the shelter is small, this emphasis on spay/neuter is central to keeping intake manageable and giving animals in its care a better chance at finding a home.
