Adoption Process

Our adoption application is available online at www.marrvelouspetrescues.org or can be filled out by hand. All pets are microchipped, vaccinated, and spayed or neutered before adoption, unless there are medical reasons that prevent this. If a pet is not spayed or neutered, we require a $100 deposit, which will be refunded once we receive proof of the procedure. Our adoption contract requires that the pet remains up to date on vaccinations and heartworm preventatives. While there are no formal fees for adoption, we do request a donation at the time of adoption.

MarrVelous Pet Rescues & Adoptions (MPR) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization established in 2007 by individuals who share a deep love for animals. Our mission is to connect homeless pets with caring families and homes. Operating as a "virtual shelter" from Marr Properties in Key Largo, Florida, we rely on a network of dedicated foster families who provide care, rehabilitation, and socialization for animals in need until they can be placed in permanent loving homes. Our funding is entirely dependent on donations, which are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. The animals we adopt often come to us after being abandoned or relinquished, and many may have injuries, health issues, or other medical needs that require veterinary attention, such as antibiotics or medications. When no medical history is available, we conduct wellness exams, administer vaccines, and initiate preventive care. Occasionally, we encounter pets with behavioral or emotional challenges, often as a result of neglect or abuse, requiring them to learn to trust again. Additionally, some animals arrive in our care healthy, happy, and well-trained, yet find themselves in need of a new home through no fault of their own. The stories of these animals are numerous, and their needs are significant. Our foster families, with support from local veterinarians, are committed to ensuring that these needs are met.
