The Aberdeen Area Humane Society is a humane society located in Aberdeen, South Dakota, about 3 miles northeast of the city. It's a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that places homeless animals into good homes, rescues animals from abusive situations, and investigates reports of animal mistreatment for the northern South Dakota area. Operating under the motto "Rescued" Is Our Favorite Breed, the shelter is funded through memberships, donations, fundraisers, and adoptions, and cares for dogs, cats, and other animals. It's open Tuesday through Saturday from 1:00–5:00 PM and Sunday from 1:00–4:00 PM.
