As Hamilton County's official animal shelter, it provides adoption, foster, lost & found, and community pet support services for dogs, cats, and small animals, and serves as the county's 24/7 animal control provider. The organization is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that takes in nearly 9,000 homeless animals annually and relies on community donations and a team of over 900 volunteers to support its lifesaving mission of individualized care and safe, compatible home placements. It is an accredited charity through the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance.

Visit one of their two Northside shelter locations in person during open hours (no appointment needed for on-site animals); staff have a conversation with you about your home and preferences to match you with a pet, and all paperwork, including a valid state ID, is completed on-site with same-day adoptions available.
