About this shelter

Asheville Humane Society in Asheville, NC

Asheville Humane Society is located in Asheville, North Carolina, about 50 miles south of Greenville, SC, and operates as the only open-admission shelter in Buncombe County, meaning it never turns away an animal in need. The Adoption Center is open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Sunday from 12:00 to 4:00 PM, finding homes for thousands of animals each year, including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, and farm animals. Beyond adoptions, the organization runs behavior and training classes, a pet helpline, lost-and-found reunification services, spay/neuter and wellness clinics, and community programs like pet food distribution to help keep pets in their homes. Its work is funded by private donations and supported by partners such as the ASPCA, Petco Love, Petsmart Charities, and Best Friends Animal Society.
