Adoption Process

Visit the shelter, tour the kennels, and meet the pet in a visitation room or courtyard with all household members and pets; if you decide to adopt, complete an Adoption Questionnaire and meet with an adoption counselor. Adopters must be at least 18 with valid ID, agree to spay/neuter the pet if not already done, and renters may need to show landlord permission.

The Siouxland Humane Society is located about 1 mile northeast of Sioux City, Iowa, and serves as Siouxland's only open admission, full service shelter, caring for thousands of pets each year. It takes great pride in finding forever homes for one-hundred-percent of its adoptable pets and also supports the community through programs like spay/neuter assistance, veterinary and pet food assistance, humane education, and cruelty and neglect investigation. The shelter is open Tuesday through Friday from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Saturday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Sunday from noon to 5:00 PM.
