New Haven Animal Shelter in New Haven, CT
The New Haven Animal Shelter, officially known as the Robin I. Kroogman New Haven Animal Shelter, is located in New Haven, Connecticut, about 2 miles south of the city center. It is the second largest municipal animal shelter in the State of Connecticut, featuring over 65 dog runs and attracting more than 3,200 visitors annually. The shelter takes in roughly 1,400 dogs and cats each year and partners with the Humane Commission, Friends of the New Haven Animal Shelter, and the North Shore Animal League to host adoption events throughout the year in addition to on-site adoptions. It is open Monday through Saturday from 12:30 to 4:30 PM.

Adoption process
Applicants must be 18 or older, apply in person with valid ID and proof of housing/landlord approval, meet the animal (with all household members and any resident dog present) by appointment, and pay a $90 cash-only adoption fee that covers vaccinations and spay/neuter.
