The Greater Huntsville Humane Society is a no-kill shelter located in Huntsville, Alabama, dedicated to furthering the humane care and treatment of animals and providing adoption services to homeless and unwanted animals. For 55 years, GHHS has been rescuing North Alabama's homeless animals, and today it supports the community through programs such as King's Community Kitchen, the FIV/FeLV Haven for cats, Pet Wellness Clinics, and the Three Tails ReSale thrift store. The shelter, situated about 3 miles north of Huntsville, welcomes visitors Monday through Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. GHHS also relies heavily on volunteers and foster families to help injured, sick, or under-socialized dogs and cats heal and find their forever homes.

Adoption process

Choose an adoptable pet online and complete a detailed application via Shelterluv; applicants must be at least 19, provide landlord permission/pet deposit proof if renting, have all family members (and current dogs) meet the animal in person, and pass a possible home inspection, with approval decided on a first-come, first-qualified basis.
