About this shelter

Jefferson County Humane Society in Monticello, FL

Jefferson County Humane Society is a select-intake, non-profit animal shelter located in Monticello, Florida, in Jefferson County, about 25 miles west of Tallahassee. The shelter receives no government funding and relies solely on donations and fundraising to operate, which means space and resources are limited; it strives to take in as many animals as possible while maintaining a high level of animal health and wellness, and it does not accept aggressive dogs. It is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10:00AM to 4:00PM, and its work is further supported by the Wag the Dog Thrift & Treasure Shop in downtown Monticello, which helps fund the care of the animals.
