Adoption Process

All prospective adopters must complete an adoption application with Whisker Stop. Applicants should ensure that any current pets are up to date on vaccinations, spayed or neutered, and receiving appropriate flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. Additionally, all applicants must consent to a standard background check, home visit, and lease verification if applicable. Once approved, applicants are required to read and sign an adoption contract that outlines the necessary responsibilities for pet care. These responsibilities include providing shelter, food, water, and medical care for the animal for its entire life. Applicants are prohibited from performing any cosmetic procedures on animals adopted from Whisker Stop, including but not limited to declawing, tail docking, and ear cropping. Adoption donation fees vary depending on the specific animal and are intended to reimburse costs incurred for the animal's care while in rescue, including veterinary expenses, food, and grooming.
