Humane Society of Greater Miami in North Miami, FL
The Humane Society of Greater Miami is located in North Miami, Florida, in Miami-Dade County, where it shares the region with 16 other animal shelters and rescues, and sits about 10 miles south of Miami. It has been helping homeless animals in Miami-Dade County since 1936 as a private, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) charitable animal welfare organization. It operates as a limited admit, adoption guarantee facility, meaning every dog and cat admitted is protected from euthanasia due to time, space, or treatable medical issues while they wait for a permanent home. Beyond adoptions, it runs a low-cost spay/neuter and preventative veterinary clinic and offers humane education programs for schools, youth groups, and community organizations to promote kindness to animals and responsible pet ownership.
