Adoption Process

We look forward to meeting you and ensuring that we find the right match for both you and the animal. Please contact us via email or phone regarding the animal you are interested in, and we can arrange an appointment for you to meet. To begin the adoption process, visit our Adoption Information page at www.mshoogys.org to complete our adoption application and email it to one of our volunteers. Alternatively, you can print the application, fill it out, and bring it with you to M'Shoogy's during our operating hours, which are Saturdays from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Please be aware that if you are applying to adopt a dog, we typically require that you have a fenced-in yard, unless there are special circumstances. The adoption fee is $59, which includes vaccinations and spaying/neutering. If you are adopting a dog, we also request that you purchase six months of heartworm preventative, which is sold by weight. We are proud to offer one of the most affordable adoption services in the area.

M'Shoogy's Famous Emergency Animal Rescue in Savannah, MO

M'Shoogy's operates under a strict no-kill policy, providing a home for several hundred dogs, cats, and other animals of various ages and sizes. The cost of care is approximately $50.00 per month per animal, not including medical expenses, with a total daily operational cost of around $500.00. Over the past 19 years, M'Shoogy's has saved more than 15,000 animals from imminent death. Founded by Gary and Lisa Silverglat, M'Shoogy's has benefited from their unwavering commitment to animal welfare. In nearly two decades, they have only taken four days away from the sanctuary and have never drawn a salary, dedicating all their efforts and resources to the animals without seeking financial compensation. In addition to the Silverglats, numerous volunteers and staff members contribute to the care and affection provided to the animals. The sanctuary also features several acres designated for wildlife rehabilitation. Here, animals receive medical treatment and nourishment until they are ready to be safely returned to their natural habitats. During the spring and summer months, the sanctuary sees a significant influx of raccoons and opossums, along with foxes, owls, deer, squirrels, and ducks that temporarily find refuge at M'Shoogy's. Additionally, M'Shoogy's offers educational tours and presentations to groups, emphasizing the importance of treating animals with dignity and respect. The organization has also played a crucial role in advocating for permit laws and legislation aimed at combating animal abuse.
